PRESS RELEASE
BEHIND LEONARDO’S LAST SUPPER THERE APPEARS A NEW PAINTING
WEDNESDAY 25TH JULY 2007 - h 10.30 am
CENTRO CONGRESSI “STELLINE” IN MILAN
Thanks to an altogether accidental discovery a new painting has appeared behind Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper. This is not due to the skills of an art expert but to an information technologist that has come across a most extraordinary finding: Slavisa Pesci, that is his name, has been able to identify a new painting that clearly has some aspects in common with The Last Supper, while some others look totally different. Once the method is known, anybody can see the “new” painting behind the original scene: a great many details strike the eye, not just coincidences, rather a number of new images that must have been studied very carefully by the genius of Leonardo, who managed to get something unique probably by means of complicated mathematic calculations. In the new scene, which will be presented alongside the mechanical demonstration at Centro Congressi “Stelline” in Milan at 10.30 am on Wednesday, there appear new figures in addition to some of the traditional ones like Jesus Christ and Judas, with dozens of details which leave out accident and rather witness how Leonardo da Vinci decided to show his genius as well as put the viewers’ eyes to the test. These latest findings and the mechanical demonstration at their basis will be presented at Centro Congressi Fondazione Stelline in Milano, Corso Magenta, 61/63, sala Agnesi, at 10.30 am on Wednesday 25th July.

“Would you mind leaving me alone with the master, prior?”. The words sounded like a polite request, but their tone was that of an order. Whichever it was, it really made little difference when such words were spoken by Duke Ludovico il Moro. Father Vincenzo Bandello stepped back, his eyes still on Leonardo da Vinci, who was looking at his work with satisfaction. Suddenly, he turned round and strode off across the refectory. It annoyed him that inside his convent, on his own ground, he should be told what to do by Ludovico Sforza who wanted to be alone with that dauber and his wall painting worth next to nothing…
